Performing with Orchestra de Cymru

On Saturday 5th April in St John the Baptist Church, Risca Road, Newport, Cwmbran Baroque Singers performed with Orchestra De Cymru.

The second half of the programme consisted of Johannes Brahms's magnificent Ein deutsches Requiem, unusual in its time because it was composed specifically in the German language, rather than using the Latin language more usually associated with a Requiem Mass.

A powerful work of this kind best suits a powerful choir and instrumental accompaniment and it was with this in mind that Musical Director Carol Williams invited former choir members and former pupils of her own and of our President, Alan Moore, to come to rehearsals and perform with us.

Considering all these factors, who better to accompany this work than Orchestra De Cymru? We have been fortunate in the past to be accompanied by this versatile group of professional players and the choir very much looking forward enjoyed singing with them once again.
